Sally Ng

Sally Ng started her French horn training at her age of 15 with Mr. Simon Yau at Music Office. Hereafter, she joined the Hong Kong Youth Symphonic Band and the Hong Kong Youth Symphony Orchestra. Sally entered the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts 1993 and received her Diploma, Advanced Diploma and Professional Diploma. Her teachers included Joe Kirtley, Kim Kelly and Homer Lee.

During the time of HKAPA, she was also active in chamber music and was coached by Margaret Lynn and Margaret Crawford etc. In addition, she also attended the master class by Michael Thompson, Frank Lloyd and the American French horn Quartet, and attains the high praise. After the graduation, she was invited by the Hong Kong Temporary Urban Council to have her debut recital in the Young Musicians series. Sally frequently participates in the City Chamber of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Hong Kong New Philharmonia and the Pan Asia. She also made a guest principal and instructor with the Penang Symphony Orchestra in Malaysia.

Ng was appointed as part time performer by the Hong Kong Music Office. In the teaching aspect, she is always seeking for new methods on her pedagogy. In addition to the Alexander Technique on French Horn teaching, she even uses unconventional methods to help students to solve the problem of the tongue and muscles. She is currently the French horn instructor of Junior School of the HKAPA, and brass instructor or band master in many middle and primary schools. She was the French Horn instructor of the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra and the senior brass instructor of the Hong Kong Professional Musician Association. Her students keep winning in the Hong Kong Music Festival, and got 13 horn prizes in the Festival in 1999. Her students also appeared in the international competitions and achieved outstanding results.
