Lucia Ho

Born and based in Hong Kong, Lucia Ho is a professional clarinetist and dedicated music educator. She obtained her Bachelor of Music from The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) in 2019 and her Master of Music from Purchase College, State University of New York (SUNY), in 2021. Her musical journey began under the guidance of her mentor, Maurice Poon and Lung Mei Yan. She later studied with esteemed clarinetists Dr. Chen Chiu- yuan, Andrew Simon, and Professor Ayako Oshima. During her academic journey, she was awarded several scholarships, including the HKSAR Philharmonic Scholarship from HKAPA and the Seigbert Scholarship from SUNY, in recognition of her musical excellence.

As an active performer, Ho has played in a variety of ensembles across different genres. She performed twice in the HKGNA Music Festival Musical Inspirations (2022 & 2024), sharing the stage with internationally acclaimed artists such as soprano Sumi Jo, Hins Cheung, and Sung Si Kyung. In the realm of classical music, she participated in Mozart’s opera Così fan tutte, presented by the Hong Kong Teachers’ Chorus and conducted by Hsu Wei-En.

Beyond orchestral performance, Ho has collaborated with various ensembles and theatrical productions. In 2024, she performed with O Wind Ensemble as part of the Wind Promotional Project Earth. Moon. Star. In 2022, she contributed as a musician for the HKAPA drama production Le Malade Imaginaire. During her studies in New York, she took part in the recording of Poulenc’s opera Dialogues of the Carmelites under the baton of Hugh Murphy. She also performed in the Hong Kong Arts Festival Plus series The Charm of Czech Music for a Sunday Afternoon in 2017, showcasing Mladi by Janáček.

Ho has attended numerous international clarinet masterclasses and music festivals, receiving guidance from world-class clarinetists such as Michel Arrignon, Florent Héau, Charles Neidich, Ayako Oshima, John Bruce Yeh, Romaine Guyout, Stephen Williamson, Andrew Marriner, Ma Yue, and Raphaël Sévère. She has participated in the International Clarinet Festival organized by Taiwan’s Magic Clarinet Quartet (2015), the Kitakaruizawa Seminar (2017), and Domaine Forget (2018). At Domaine Forget, she was selected to perform Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in the Mozart Seminar under the mentorship of Daniel Matsukawa, principal bassoonist of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Alongside her performing career, Ho is passionate about music education and nurturing the next generation of musicians. She has been actively teaching clarinet in various schools and organizations, including the MYO Beginner Class, Precious Blood Primary School (South Horizons), and Holy Trinity College, while also offering private lessons.
