Flutist, senior music educator, Executive Council Member of the Guangdong Wind Music Association, Examiner for Xinghai Conservatory of Music and the Guangdong Musicians Association, former Principal Flutist and Leader of the Guangdong Zhuying Orchestra, and Master’s graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts

She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from Xinghai Conservatory of Music, where she studied under Professor Shen Zhaogang. Following her undergraduate studies, she studied under Mr Yu Yongjin in Hong Kong and Ms Yang Bizhen (Taiwan), a disciple of Prof. Werner Tripp of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

She previously served as Leader and Principal Flutist of the Guangdong Zhuying Orchestra. During her tenure with the orchestra, she participated in hundreds of performances, interpreting a wide range of works including operas, symphonies and film scores. She has shared the stage with renowned musicians such as pianist Lang Lang, and has collaborated with celebrated conductors including Zhang Guoyong, Huang Yi and Yang Yang.

Ms Hong has remained active on the performance stage, having held numerous solo and chamber music concerts in Hong Kong and Guangdong. In August 2016, she was invited to serve as a mentor at the ‘2016 Providence University First Cross-Strait Exchange Music Festival’ held in Taichung. During the summer of 2023, she was invited to serve as the flute mentor for the 2023 Shenzhen Bougainvillea Wind Music Summer Camp.

In 2017, Ms Hong founded the Fay-Flutist Studio, dedicated to professional and amateur flute education for young people, as well as flute exchange activities. Her students have gone on to gain admission to prestigious institutions such as the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, Zhejiang Conservatory of Music, Stanford University in the United States, and Xinghai Conservatory of Music. In addition to her busy performance schedule, Ms Hong is also a researcher in child psychology. She has published an audio-read article titled ‘Before Learning Music, Parents Need to Take This Lesson Most of All’ on the paid public account ‘Qianliao’, sharing insights on practising with children and communication techniques with parents of young musicians.

In 2024, Ms Hong pursued a Master’s degree at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, studying under the renowned flutist Izaskun Erdocia Uranga. In October 2024, she participated in the Flute Masterclass at the Lincoln Center Chamber Music Festival in New York, receiving guidance from Tara Helen O’Connor, Professor of Flute at the Yale School of Music. In April 2025, she received personal instruction from Julien Beaudiment, Professor of Flute at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon in France. During her time in Hong Kong, she performed in the operas Madam Butterfly and Lucia di Lammermoor as principal flutist of the orchestra.
